February 2025 Newsletter
We’re excited about the upcoming Annual Council of the Diocese of West Texas, scheduled for February 20–22, as a pivotal gathering that brings together clergy, lay delegates, and leaders from across the diocese. Held each year, Council serves as a time for reflection, inspiration, and strategic decision-making as representatives discern the mission and ministry priorities of the diocese. This year’s event promises to be especially impactful, offering opportunities for worship, fellowship, and collaboration. Through workshops, ministry reports, and shared meals, delegates and attendees can learn from one another, celebrate successes, and explore innovative ways to carry out the work of Christ in their local communities.
For St. Matthias and other diocesan churches, the Council is more than an administrative necessity; it’s a reminder of the interconnectedness of the Body of Christ. Resolutions and initiatives passed at Council have the potential to influence outreach programs, resource sharing, and ministry development throughout the diocese. For St. Matthias, the decisions and connections made at Council and the two workshops we’ll be attending, will provide us new tools for serving our nation’s military, veterans and those incarcerated in Federal Prisons, and strengthening a culture of discipleship in our church community as we share the Good News. As each congregation participates in shaping the collective vision, Council reinforces the unity and shared purpose of all churches in the Diocese of West Texas, empowering them to live more fully into their calling as witnesses to God’s love.
