November 2024 Newsletter
Our Bishop’s Warden, Karen introduced the theme of gratitude last month by having a poster in the back of our Sanctuary where parishioners can write what they’re grateful for on pre-cut paper cut outs and place them on each month’s scene. Gratitude fills our hearts when we reflect on the abundant blessings we receive while serving our Lord. Every act of service, whether big or small, brings us closer to His grace, and we recognize that all we have comes from His hand. As we offer our time, talents, and treasures, we remember that "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights" (James 1:17, NIV). With thankful hearts, we acknowledge that our service is not only a response to His love but also a participation in His ongoing work, which enriches our lives and deepens our faith.
We want to thank everyone who turned in their annual pledge cards. It’s your generosity that allows us to serve the Lord in our community. If you haven’t filled out a pledge card yet, you can either send it to St. Matthias Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 682, Devine, TX 78016 or drop it in our offering plate.
Fr. Dexter, Allison and Karen Martinez attended and voted at the election of the new Diocesan Bishop Suffragan, The Rev. Angela Maria Cortiñas. We’ll be blessed at St. Matthias on April 6th, when Bishop Cortiñas will make one of her first church visits as Bishop Suffragan of the Diocese of West Texas.
